Rugby Football

Rugby is a lot like American Football. Rugby originated in England in 1823.  It was after 5:00 at Rugby School and the game of soccer was going very slowly.  William Webb Ellis was bored.  He suddenly grabbed the ball and ran helter-skelter to the goal.  Everybody chased him, including his own team.  Ellis made it across the goal smiling, and declared it a victory. A rematch was called, this time with the new rule that a player could touch the ball with his hands.  Thus rugby was born.
