Materials

We are not yet quite sure what cars of the future will be made of, but we have some ideas.  Most cars are being made from iron ore right now.  But, how do they get the iron ore to the shape of cars?  Before they start putting the car together, manufacturers make a clay model of the car.  This is also used for testing the safety features of the car.
Cars are, and probably will continue to be, made by robots.  The pick-up truck’s "bed", or the back area, is beginning to be made with a new stronger-than-steel glass-fiber that is lightweight, and is virtually indestructible.

Materials to replace the iron ore are also being produced that are multi-layered, and provide acoustic, thermal, weight, space, and ‘aesthetic’ properties for the outside of cars.  Glass roofs will also start appearing soon on Avantime, a new model by Marta.
